Engine Statement on Ninth Circuit Ruling on Immigration Ban

Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled against President Trump’s executive order banning the citizens of seven countries and refugees from entering the U.S., maintaining a lower court’s freeze on the order. As a result, immigrants and refugees who were previously barred from the country under Trump’s EO can continue to enter the U.S. The following statement can be attributed to Engine Executive Director Evan Engstrom:

"We're thrilled that the Ninth Circuit has refused to reinstate the Administration's immigration ban. As we, along with more than 200 startups and investors, noted in a letter to the President earlier this week, the immigration ban is both morally and economically misguided and a threat to the American startup community. While we hope that the court's sensible ruling convinces Trump to drop this ill-advised proposal, we recognize that there's still much work to be done on this case and immigration policy more broadly. However, seeing the tech community rally so quickly to push back against the Executive Order is an encouraging sign that we have the determination to continue fighting this and other dangerous policies in the future."
